External Coach Meetings

 The  Illinois RtI Network provides monthly training to External Coaches of Network Participating Districts.  The focus of these trainings is the acquisition and application of research-based practices to build a sustainable RtI/MTSS model. Through readings, discussion, and activities, coaches build their ability to support their District Leadership Teams and Internal Coaches.  In addition to this monthly training, Lead Coaches provide technical assistance and Coaching on-site in Participating Districts.

The materials used for these trainings include Facilitator's Agenda and Notes, Handouts and Powerpoint slides. The scope and sequence table below outlines the content, learning outcomes,links to the Coaching And Sustained Support Survey, and applicable Extension Activities from the External Coach Fidelity Checklist.

  • Establishing procedures for writing decision making rules to all staff in school buildings.
  • Identifying assessments for screening and diagnostics, across all grade levels for reading that are scientifically-based for the purpose they will be used.
  • Identifying assessments for screening and diagnostics, for math that are scientifically-based for the purpose they will be used.

  • Explanation of district’s philosophy and approach to providing Tier 2 support

  • Systematically communicating information about RtI/MTSS to families to facilitate and reinforce their understanding
