For Parents & Families

An important objective of the Illinois SPDG is to increase the active involvement and engagement of parents in their children’s educational process, especially with regard to classroom instruction; student progress; and any academic, social/emotional, and/or behavioral interventions that a student may need. Within each of the districts and schools participating in the Illinois RtI Network, it is expected that parents will be key members of educational teams.

Research shows that when parents and family members are involved in a child’s education, the outcomes are positive: higher test scores, increased attendance, better behavior and social skills, higher rate of graduation, and increased drive to pursue post-secondary education.
